today is the next to last day of my 25 list posting...
there are 2 lists today.....i like both of them....

25 random things about me that you may or may not know

1. my favorite color is blue
2. i'm always cold....and i love curling up under a blanket
3. i can watch a movie i love over and over again and not get tired of it
4. i'm almost always going to be the quiet one in a group
5. i would rather eat my soup, ice cream, and oatmeal from a mug than a bowl
6. i love traditions
7. i truly love the traditional roles within a family
8. i absolutely enjoy dressing up, heels and all
9. i love personality tests
10. the beach is one of the few places that make me feel completely at peace
11. i love dogs
12. i've always wanted to swim with dolphins & pet a tiger
13. children are my passion
14. strawberries are my one of my favorite foods
15. i love celebrating people and important moments
16. i've never been kissed
17. my favorite flower is the calla lily, but i also really love tulips
18. i've wanted to be a teacher since i was in elementary school
19. i love sharpies
20. school supplies smell good to me
21. i get scared very easily
22. one of my biggest annoyances is when people say they're going to do something and don't....or when you send a message or call and they never respond....grr!!
23. the chivalry/gentleman thing makes my heart melt (just a little) every time
24. i love nicknames
25. i love hugs....at any place or time...

8. weddings -- especially if the couple is close to me...it's always great to see the love between them!

10. baking/cooking for other people
11. wrapping presents in fun and creative ways
12. finding ways to make others feel special
13. memories
14. trusting in others (even though it might take me awhile to get to this point with someone)
15. reading
16. knowing, without a doubt, that my God loves me, created me, and has a purpose and a plan for my life
17. experiencing new cultures
18. learning
19. being there for others when they need a friend
20. being within walking distance....of just about everything...
21. an open door/always welcome policy
22. picnics
23. letters to and from/phone calls with friends and family
24. believing the best in people
25. watching/experiencing others living God's purpose for their lives

 
some of those things are a little personal....at least for me....and my insides are all saying, "why are you sharing that?!!".....but there they are...
it's all about opening up for me right now....
i'm feeling a little daring (a very little, that is) :)

You are feeling a little daring, aren't you?? :) I have loved reading all of your lists and feel like I know you even better. I also discovered why we're kindred spirits - your lists could mostly be mine.

I hope that you have a very happy 25th birthday celebration and I'm glad I get to be part of it!

happy new year! and....a quarter of a century

happy new year, my friends! i hope you celebrated in a fun way and were with people you love :) i was able to see some friends i never get to see new year's eve...and then was back at my parents' house by around 10:15...and was in bed by 11:30.... i did not stay awake to welcome in 2010, but i'm ok with that :) in other news, i'll be a quarter of a century old in a week. 25... i'm not one to freak out about my age (at least not yet) but 25 is a good year, i think. and in honor of my turning 25, i've decided to make lists of 25. because it'll be fun, and who doesn't love a good list? and because i spent yesterday traveling, the first list is a travel list, but is by no means complete or comprehensive....there's no way i could make a full list of everywhere i've been or would like to go.... so, enjoy!! 25 places i've traveled or would like to travel (red = where i've been, blue = where i'd like to go) 1. new orleans,...

His Straight, Not Mine

Whenever I have a huge decision to make, I stress. My default mode is "what if I'm wrong??" This has been true for the last 10+ years of my life. College, mission trips during college, where to teach after college, quitting teaching, moving to Baltimore, leaving Baltimore, beginning seminary. All decisions fraught with questions, doubts, fears. And I'm there again. Graduated from seminary, looking for the next step. Wondering. Doubting. Questioning. Hoping. Dreaming. Fearing.  Every big decision is the same. You'd think I'd have learned by now just to decide or jump or trust or whatever. But no. The reason for this struggle is that I so badly long to do what I am meant to do. I long to follow God where He is leading, to fulfill the purpose He has planned for me from the beginning. But I'm only human. And so how on earth do I know what God has planned for me? And how on earth can I possibly do that without screwing it up completely?  I look at vers...
